Tucks today

Anyone free on thursday, 12.3.15 for the dike?

Mark NH · · 03053 · Joined Feb 2013 · Points: 0

...better bring rock shoes and a snorkel Thursday. Rain Tuesday night thru Wednesday. I drove by the dike today and looked thru binoculars from the lot. Less ice - allot less - than last Wednesday. With that said it actually may have gotten done today as there was two cars in lot (no one when I looked).

Fafnir basically gone. Crawfords and Frank's all less than last week and neclimbs pics.

Mark those conditions sound excellent but youve most certainly ruined any hope of me getting a partner :)

2.5" of rain on tuesday and wednesday, then snowing all day thursday. I'm working, but have at it!

Not trying to keep you from finding a partner Zac!

Part of reason for these forums is to inform. Not to mislead. I call it as I see it. I'd be remiss in keeping current info from today to myself when others might be interested just how little ice there is to climb. And what it will be like after warm temps and rain. 30 years ago we didn't have current conditions info at our fingertips!

People can take this info and use it as they want - not waste a day driving some far distance only to discover it's not "in for their ability" or use it as "it's gonna be a damn bold ascent!"

I think it was Dougald Macdonald that said " good judgment is the result of experience and experience is the result of bad judgment."

I understand :)

Thanks for the info and being a good mentor.

Yeah I planned to go up as well but these warm temps are killin' me.....looks like more rock climbing if everything's not soaked

Anybody up for climbing something on Mt. Washington on Friday? Looks like temps will stay cold up high so it will be snow instead of rain. I could stand to take a long weekend.

Nick Votto · · CO, CT, IT · Joined Jul 2008 · Points: 320

Seamus I may be able to swing this, I will be in touch by tomorrow.

Anybody free the 12th or 13?
I'll climb anywhere that's in, with an alpine start.

I have friday off as well. I'd love to get out!

Zac St Jules · · New Hampshire · Joined Dec 2013 · Points: 1,188

Anyone want to go for the Black Dyke Sunday (12/6/2015)? It should be solidified by then.

Hmm, I kinda feel like the last kid standing against the wall at recess while teams are being picked for kickball. Anyhoo, I live in Bristol, NH and am pretty much available to climb any day, any time. Looking for a partner for Thursday, Friday, or Saturday if anyone is still game. Next week works too.

Travis and Nick,

Sounds great. Either of you have an ice rack and half ropes? Thinking we can meet early Friday morning at Pinkham and decide on what to climb. Looks like Tucks is a sure bet and the Huntington ravines look marginal as of yesterday.

I have an ice rack. I usually climb with a 60m rope. I'll bring my ice gear

Zac St Jules · · New Hampshire · Joined Dec 2013 · Points: 1,188

Joe I can do thursday but lets keep an eye on weather.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
