Coolest Features to Climb in North America
|
jeesh beat me to it. the black hills are great. and since we're talking features I'll second this... and anything in the ten pins... |
|
Independence Monument, Otto's Route is unique and worth writing home about IMO. Maybe a minor league contender against some of these others though. |
|
Widow's Tears as an ice climb in Yosemite is probably up there. |

But there's also nothing in the Gunks that deserves to be on this list.I was gonna say: if you want to do Gunks, yellow wall and Foops are way more "I have to climb this" but there are way prettier walls and roof cracks than those even |

For the sheer variety of climbable features, I would have to say Joshua Tree. |
|
Seneca Rocks... Well as the name says - it just rocks! |
|
You can't just say a whole area. The post was about features not areas! |
|
Warbonnet Peak in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho is pretty rad. The summit overhangs by several thousand feet. |

so much climbing... so little time. |

The Needles in California should be up there. They are just pretty to look at with the greenish/yellow lichen coloring them. |

Slipstream (Mount Snow Dome) |

Rockfellow Dome hasn't been mentioned, and is pretty damn cool. Just getting to the summit by any route is quite an adventure (which I have never done). Inner Passage (aka Interiors) tunnels right through the middle of the formation! Just the End Pinnacle by itself is way cool, and I have done that a few times.

Minotaur at the Columbia College Boulders. Actually any of the crazy mini seacliff type boulders out there. This picture is of the Scoop another classic in the area, Minotaur is the tower with the horns in the background. |

I'm a huge fan of the volcanoes. Rainier, Hood, Adams. Devil's tower is absolutely incredible. And who can't resist El Cap, and Half dome? |
