Hey guys,
I'm in Colombia right now, heading down to Peru tomorrow and probably gonna stay there till the end of November. I'd like to climb the area arround Huaraz, but am open to any other climbing spots and recommendations! (Ecuador and Colombia too)
I'm a sport climber in and outdoors, but do boulders and trad too. Normally climb about 5.11c ish but am a little bit out of training.
I didn't bring rope and quick draws, only have my harness, shoes and atc, so it would be awesome to find somebody with equipment, or rent it there if needed.
I speak German, Spanish and English fluently (I am half German, half Colombian) and weigh about 50 kilos.

Please let me know if you're down there and want to share some climbing, hiking or biking and awesome experiences with me!

Hey Nora,

I'm Jack, and I am in Huaraz at the moment with a friend of mine attempting to do some mountaineering. However, I am keen to get some sport climbing in as well. I've heard of a lot of cool spots and have visited one with someone I met on my travels and really want to head to Hatun Machay as well....which I've been told is a must!

I've mainly climbed indoors and so am looking to build on my outdoor experience....my confidence tends to be lower outdoors, and I'd say I climb at around the french 5c/6a level (so 5.10a/b level I think) - although indoors I have managed a few 6b's (5.10d?). Obviously this is a bit lower than your own abilities but I'm always keen to learn from better climbers and am happy to sit on belay while you attempt things above what I can do!

In terms of equipment...I have brought it all with me from England :) I have a 60m rope, 13 quickdraws, a harness, shoes, a couple of slings, a few screwgates and even a tent haha!

If you fancy it let me know, and also if you fancy some trekking let me know too since me and my friend wil be doing bits to warm up to one of the big peaks in the area.

Cheers

Jack

Hey Jack,

I´d love to go climbing with you guys! I´ll arrive in Huaraz tomorrow night or the day after.
I´m kind of out of shape right now, so don´t worry about that :D
Are you staying in the city?

Hey Nora,

Sorry I've been away on a trek and only just got back. So are you in Huaraz now? I am staying in the city....at a hostel called joe's place...but not sure if I'll be here long. Planniing on doing a mountain with my friend around the fourth of Nov. But before and definitely after that I dont have a huge amount planned and am keen to climb.

Hey Nikki,
I might climb Los Olivos again today, a spot just outside of Huaraz, but am probably gonna head out tonight. But a friend of mine is still here with all his gear. We're staying in a climbers hostel called the Tambo pretty cheap and a lot of climbers around, definitely recommendable to meet people, just come by if you want to!
