Hi - I will be in Flagstaff this winter and hoping to climb frequently. What are the best crags (trad or sport) to climb on a sunny winter day within one to two hours from Flagstaff? Thanks for your help!

In order of chilly to warm:

Higher Solitude
The Pit
Jacks
Granite Dells
Sedona crags
13 Mile Rock

and others...

Both the Overlook and the Waterfall are climbable all year. That black basalt heats up a ton. Climbing even when there's some snow on the ground isn't out of the question so long as you're in the sun.

Thank you! What about Isolation Canyon? Does that have south facing walls?

Iso gets sun, especially finktion wall. There may be snow on the ground so the approach might be sloppy, and research the parking as it recently changed. Great climbing though, certainly worth the hike.

Isolation also has Winter Wall with plenty of sun until late afternoon.

The Isolation main page has a couple of options for the latest approach. If you prefer easier parking, go the Pine Trailhead (just south of town) and take the Arizona Trail south until it connects with the climber trail just before the Az Trail reaches Pine Creek. (turn left at the ranch).

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
