Greetings:

Here's your chance to have a say in how trails and stewardship work at Eldorado Canyon State Park. Please consider attending a meeting on Wednesday, November 18th from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. There'll be a meet & greet, a progress report, and a discussion of the future direction of stewardship in Eldorado Canyon.

Hope to see you there...

I spend a large portion of my work week putting rocks on top of each other, and my official state-mandated job title is pretty lackluster. Voila!

Longtime lurker -
Couldn't make the meeting due to prior commitments unfortunately. Very interested in any progress or highlights from the meeting?

Thanks for all the work you do

(rincon stairs look SO good)

Definitely not the wind tower descent. It'll invalid all subsequent bridge-to-bridge Naked Edge records (tongue-in-cheek).

I just set a new record. Got to the bridge, looked up at the Naked Edge for a few minutes, then got back in my truck - wayyyyy under one hour. Feeling proud.

(Big file, sorry).

Really nice group of people last night. Very cool to think about the last 25 years of Eldorado trailbuilding and start laying foundations for the next 25.

I'd like to convene something like this once or twice a year. I kinda view these more like shareholder meetings - it's everybody's park, here's some of how we're taking care of it, whaddya say?

And definitely contact me if you've got questions, if you're interested in getting involved, ... One of the special things about Eldorado Canyon is that the trails department is really small and pretty climber-friendly.

Peace out

Mike thanks for posting, wish I would've seen this earlier.

One question regarding the Rincon work-are there plans to contain the erosion near the stairs by Over the Hill etc? Last weekend I noticed many folks belaying on the stairs with gear, packs, and dogs strewn about. It made it hard to actually use the stairs since they're right at the base of the wall thus additional erosion when stepping around.

Thanks to all who help take care of this great place. Looking forward to more sunny winter days up at West Ridge/Rincon.

Yeah, that's a tough spot. We rebuilt the original stairs, but I had no idea how crowded it gets. I'm gonna build some landing zones on the west side of the trail over the winter, maybe a nice escape off to the cluster of trees everybody pees on - hopefully that will take care of some of the traffic congestion.

Sweet, if any of those work days fall on a weekend I'd be inclined to help.

PM sent. Trail work is kind of at the mercy of the winter weather for a while, but I'll get some weekend days on the calendar. Might be short notice. And it would be a crying shame to build walls up there and not get in a pitch or two if the weather is wonderful.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
