Climbing in Huaraz Peru (and maybe more further south through South America)

Hello All,

I am currenlty in Huaraz Peru looking for climbing partners. I am doing some trekking and mountaineering with a friend but also am keen to get some sport climbing in so need a partner :)

I have mainly climbed indoors and really want to build on my outdoor experience on this trip. I would say I climb at around a french 5c/6a level, but with more experience and confidence I am hoping raise this up...since indoors I have bagged a few 6b's.

If anyone fancies it I should be in Huaraz for a couple of weeks and then will be making my way south all the way to Patagonia. I have all the gear needed apart from spare shoes and harness.....that is to say I have a 60m rope, 13 quickdraws and a couple of slings.

Also if anyone fancies trekking and mountaineering do get in touch as me and my friend are happy to have more people join us on our adventures!

Cheers,

Jack

Hey Jack! I will be headed to Cusco from Lima Monday by bus and am interested in doing some trekking, mountaineering and climbing! I have experience in indoor and outdoor mainly as the partner not the lead. I have led sport climbs but only 5.8 one pitch climbs. I have experience with multi pitch trad climbing as well (up to 5.10c). I brought climbing shoes and wouldn't have trouble getting a harness but I'm really just interested in exploring and enjoying the nature of Peru so any trekking or mountaineering would be awesome. I live in Alaska and enjoy a lot of time in the mountians!

I'm not sure if you will be around that area at this time but just thought I'd try my luck :)

Safe and happy travels,

Hi Kellie,

Sorry for the late reply.....im afraid im not in Peru anymore. Now in la paz, Bolivia. If you are heading this way I'd be happy to go for a climb. Know of a couple of spots around here that have sport routes but also happy to trek and explore the wider outdoors :-)
