Apartment Rental Costa Blanca?

Anyone recently rent a cheap place that they enjoyed in the Costa Blanca area? Did you find it through a particular site? What towns would you recommend for accessibility to a variety of crags (with a car) and good food? I gather that the general strategy is to rent a holiday apartment in the Alicante region, but I'm looking for advice to help me to narrow down the rather overwhelming number of options. (Not currently looking at the hostels only because we are 2, and the apartments appear to be as cheap or cheaper for 2 people.)

There are two areas aroud alicante:

North: Calpe,Altea

South: Around Murcia

I have already rent flat in both area and last year i have choosen to be in between (el campello). I think that's the best solution, at one hour drive either to calpe, or murcia. And in winter yhe weather may be better near Murcia even if climbing is better near Altea.

It is generally cheap '200.300 the week. But there are very large resort and they are close to be empty in winter (You can be alone in a 100 flats building).

For the food it depend what do you like to eat, personnaly i feel spanish food very heavy and i prefer do my stuff on myself! And do not expect to be served before 10 pm. That's spain.

But i have done close to 10 winter trip in winter and found many nice sunny routes.

The guidebook is the one from rockfax ( do not like it, it is a copy of many others, but it is english) They are also some good website

We rented from a British owner years ago in a little town called Moraira, just north of Teulada and Calpe at the end of the road. If you have a car you can climb at Penon and Mascarat fairly easily from there. The advantage of being at the end of the road is far fewer people and a very cool little beach in town in a cove. There are plenty of online rental sources for the region. Afterwards we went inland to Sella and tented next to the climbers hut. Sella is highly recommended.

Ditto the ddriver's recommendation.

We had a great stay there a couple of years ago. This is the place:

holidaylettings.co.uk/renta…

I get ad's for this (looks nice):

solmoraira.com/

Its easy to get sucked into the high rise situation in the area. Moraira is a nice, quieter spot with a great, small beach. Good food nearby too.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
