Los Angeles Wilderness Training trains adult leaders of youth groups to lead them on outdoor trips, everything from car camping to multi-day backpacking trips. We also provide needed equipment to leaders who have passed the program from our extensive gear library. Training and gear are the two biggest obstacles which confront youth groups when they want to get out.

This system allows the kids to get out with leaders they know and trust, and for the leaders to know the kids as well.

I'm a proud board member. Many of you will know our executive director, Chelsea Griffie.

LAWT is a project of Earth Island Institute

If you're in L.A. come on down. It's gonna be fun. New Belgium beer and snack food...

Thanks, Kris!

Yup, I agree that is is important to get kids outdoors, especially now. Many kids think everything that is important plugs in.

The people who use our services more often work with kids of color. If your program can afford to pay someone else to lead a trip, they usually do. Scrappier people go with us. If you have been outdoors recently, there are few people of color, although the complexion of the US is getting darker. We have to get more people of color outdoors now if we want there to bea protected outdoors in the future.

Come and join us for the fundraiser Thursday night at the Stronghold!
