I am moving to Fargo,ND soon and unsure of the climbing scene there. Is there any interest in climbing at a bouldering wall in Fargo? Regardless, I am currently designing a bouldering/ceiling lead climbing gym and begining construction ASAP, hopefully completed by Fall. I will use it as a personal gym, but would be potentially opening it to the public. Thoughts??

hey welle,
im sorry to here you are moving to fargo (the flat lands). i live in fargo and as far as the climbing scene goes its pretty nonexistant. its me, my brother, and a few friends of mine.

i would be very interested in a bouldering wall. as of now there are 3 gyms in fargo. an older wall at a YMCA (still fun with routes up to 5.12 and a couple of cracks). a pretty new nicros art wall at ndsu with 3 lead routes, a bunch of tr's, and a bouldering cave. and a really tiny one at msum.

im not sure you would be able to make money out of it if thats what you were thinking. but if youre just looking for some people to pull down with get in contact with me and i would definately be interested. i would even help with the building of it if you want.

also to climb at ndsu you have to be a student or go with a student and id be happy to bring you in.

glad to know there will be another climber in town.

I just moved here to the sad flatlands as well! Any progress / changes in this gym idea ? If not guess I'll have to soothe my weeping heart in some way or another at NDSU :/

I forgot about this thread; its great to have it revived!!Unfortunately, the gym was never constructed. The space was at my dad's shop and it ended up getting used for his storage. I am still willing to particiapte, invest time and money, in a bouldering spot. I have some connections to tools, drafting software, climbing holds, experinece, etc. Maybe someone wants to be a front runner for this as I now have a wife and kid. Let me know how I can help to get this thing rolling again.

hello, I just moved back here as well from Colorado are you thinking about a co-op or a bouldering gym. It would be nice to have a place for my kid and I to climb other than our tiny garage. I think there would be a great market if there was an after school program and introduce more people to it. I have always thought about starting a bouldering gym, but not sure how to get the money and where to start. Till then I will be at NDSU wall as well.

I'm just moving to ND after being in Utah for 4 years. Was looking for gyms in Fargo. Please post more if you guys decide to make a gym. I've done some route setting in SLC, and would love to help!

Fairly new to Fargo, and new to climbing in general. Spent some time in the Black Hills a few weeks ago with some climber friends and now I've caught the bug! I didn't figure I'd find anyone up here since there is nothing to climb, but I met a guy from north central SD who said he had met some climbers from Fargo so thought I'd put the feelers out there! Anyone feel like showing a newbie the ropes?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
