Star Gazing Near Devils Lake

I know this isn't explicitly about climbing but I figured the people on here would know just as well as anyone else. Does anyone have any good suggestions for stargazing near the lake? The park closes at 11, which is early for any meteor shower. I'm looking for just a place to pull over and watch the meteor shower this Thursday. Any suggestions are much appreciated, thanks!

The parking lot up at Steinke might be good, and that's on a county road.
