I'm gonna be in the area in December with my wife. Is it worth bringing my sport climbing gear along? Are there any crags in Boulder area, or north towards Fort Collins, that get regular enough sunlight that they would be climbable in late December?

I'd say yes somewhat. This is CO...we can get 6" of snow in the morning and have it be 50 degrees the next day. It's supposed to be a huge la nina year, but right now it's indian summer (till this weekend).

Really no way to answer that question other than I think so maybe probably.

Our weather reads like the Wells report on Tom Brady.

North Table Mountain is pretty much always climbable. If you go when it is 50 degrees, you'll cook alive in the sun.

December is prime, so long as the sun is shining and the wind isn't blowing. Or it could be 45-50 and you won't even need the sun!

North Table Mountain is worth the drive down from Boulder. Lots of people like to hate on it because it's short (mostly) and polished, but it's magical during the winter. The cliffs face south to west so you get good sun all day and it ungulates enough so even if it's windy you can find calm spots.

Hooves or not, check out deck chairs when you're there.

Ha! You got me there. Can't even blame auto correct on this one.

I climb all winter in boulder. I would pay special attention to highlander and high wire in clear creek, table mountain is always an option, flatirons both trad and sport has lots of sunny areas, for boulder canyon; blob rock, elephant buttress and the dome, animal world...if it's snowing, you have world class gyms at your fingertips with many of the county's best setters...

December Wall in South Saint Vrain is aptly named.

A cool trick too is throw a hand warmer in your chalk bag. Go for a dab and warm up the tips!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
