Grivel Force Carbon VS Ice

I own 3 of the 4 pairs of the Grivel Reparto Corse line up, love em, but I have yet to try the Force Carbon on pure ice ( because I don’t have any ice blade for them... the carbon and alloy tools take different blades, kinda sucks). These tools are so light which would usually not be good for ice penetration, but the blade has a long "gard" that runs half way down the front of the tool to protect the carbon, this adds a lot of head weight which make the swing feel super good. Curious if anyone here has ever tried them with some ice blades. I've tried them once with the drytool blade but a 4.1mm thick, forget about it haha.

Marty, you're probably the only person on all of MountainProject who owns the Carbons. I don't remember ever seeing another post of anyone saying they own them.

I've climbed on the Force Carbons a couple times (2-3 days), but 95% rock placements and only with the FAT "Dry" blade. Lots of fracturing swinging into ice, as I'm sure you can imagine. I never tried them with the Ice blades.

Same here, wanted to check before dishing out 200$ for a set of "ice" blades.

What did you think about the weight (light shaft, heavy head), am I crazy to think they could climb ice well? The Force Alloy climb ice ok but the weight is evenly distributed in the tool.

Honestly it's been so long (over 5 years I think) that I really don't remember the swing at all.

Finally got to try these bad boy on pure ice... wasn't expecting any miracles BUT damn! they climb ice incredibly well! The steep angle was no issue even on the easier stuff (wi3/4) and where amazing on Wi4+/5! this was only one day so more to fallow when I get to try em on different ice conditions!

So which of these super fancy Grivel tools are the cheapest, and does the drytooling performance vs. Tech Machines justify adding them to a quiver?

I am somewhat interested in a set of tools from the Reparto Corse line for M-double digit climbing if they are really "that much" better than Tech Machines in that type of application.

I would personally say they are, cheapest would be either the master or force alloy, if you want them for pure M climbing go for the force!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
