Looking for a climbing buddy in Ann Arbor, MI

Hello All!
I am very new to climbing and am looking to start going more regularly. I can only top rope right now and can confidently do a 5.8 but have done a 5.9.
If you're looking to climb, teach me a thing or two, and enjoy a beer afterwards, then let me know!

I am not technically someone from Ann Arbor. I am however, someone from the GR area 2 hours away, and also someone who tries to remain active in the climbing community by traveling across southern michigan to meet other climbers and support the gyms. As a result, I do have some connections. In addition to the gym in town, there is another in Madison Heights about 40(?) minutes away.

I'd recommend visiting those gyms for a climbing buddy. I could check and see if some of my connections would be willing to chill with you and teach you a thing or two (I am sure they would) if you would like. But I think you'll find that all you really have to do is ask and people will help. Climbers are quite friendly and generous. I hope I provided you with the information you were looking for. I'm currently looking for a gym buddy for the first two weeks ofSeptember- would love to climb a lot! And if you're interested in trying things outside I could help you get on some stuff at grand ledge :)

I am 26 and just moved to Ann Arbor today from the Reno/Tahoe area to attend the University of Michigan for a grad program in Engineering. I have climbed for a while now and consider myself a safe climber. I have previously worked as a ice climbing guide in Alaska and have taken an AMGA course . I am happy to climb with whomever as long as they are safe and looking to have fun. If any of you are interested in meeting up shoot me a message and we can figure something out.

Planet Rock gym tends to be a pretty friendly place, and you should meet people to climb with no problem. Perhaps boulder and chat with people for a bit and you'll find roped climbing partners. And those who are certainly up for a beer afterwords. Outdoor climbing is poor and far between (Grand ledge being mediocre toproping and KY being 6 hours away...). But good luck and perhaps we'll meet one of these days.

I'll be moving to Ann Arbor at the end of September for work. I'll definitely be looking for safe, cool people to climb with in the area.

I noticed this thread had activity about a year ago, and was just wondering if there were still people looking for climbing partners?

If so, I would be down for some climbing at Grand Ledges on Saturday, Sept. 24th.

I have all the gear needed and work as a rock and alpine guide. Have not climbed here in Michigan yet, but am looking forward to pulling down on real rock!

I figured I would respond to you / anyone. Looks like I'm about a month late but I'm gunna give it my all here. I'm looking for a climbing partner/s! This seems to be a difficult task here in Michigan but if you or anyone is interested in climbing give me a shout. Being a climber from Michigan is pretty tough but I've definitely managed to climb in some pretty awesome places around the U.S.

I have a passion for climbing and all that it has brought to my life. I would love to meet some like minded people to climb with whether indoor or outdoor. There's nothing like pulling on some real rock or having good solid climbing sessions indoors!!!

Sport climbing is my weapon of choice. Trad to come! I've spent quite a bit of time at Muir Valley and "The Red", climbed in California (Mammoth Lakes), and Ontario CANADA but my favorite place to climb is in Colorado! Being a Michigander I've managed to bag quite a few single pitch routes in CO along with a couple different sport multi-pitches (new appreciation for the sport of climbing multi-pitch) which are just jaw dropping.

I'm a very safe and thoughtful climber with safety being number 1. I've hired different guide services to teach me proper techniques and climbing safety within my time being a climber but now stick with my favorite "FRONT RANGE CLIMBING" out of Colorado Springs CO. It's important for me to have proper instruction by veteran climbers, there is NO SUBSTITUTE FOR EXPERIENCE!!! My equipment is top notch as it's my "life-line". I love adventure and am easy to get along with, work well under pressure and have the means and time to travel.
