Wal-Mart is acceptable. I'm not asking for your golden, double secret probation spot (though if you want to PM me with it, that's fine too), just places where I can park my car. Does EMS let people sleep in their parking lot? |

I think the National Forest land is all camp for free, just keep your fires 1/4 mile from the road. You should be able to pick a trail, hike in, and camp out no problem. There are a million trailheads where you can leave your car. (Check internet for White Mt National Forest for the rules), or call them. I called once about camping and got a person on the phone. |

No, you just can't arbitrarily pick a trail head and wander in 1/4 of a mile - in some areas there is no camping allowed of any sort until you're significantly far from the road. Yes, the police regularly patrol and they know all the spots. |
