With the heat wave in the PNW as of late, shade has become a mandatory thing to allow for climbing to take place.

What is the sun/shade situation in Darrington? Are there any routes that get a signficiantly amount of shade at any point in the day? Or do all of the slabs cook in the sun all day long?

I was told that Ancient Melodies is in shade until about noon in summer.

But I haven't checked. You certainly want to avoid 3:00 Rock in midday, though evenings and early mornings may be fine.

I climbed total soul a few weeks ago on 3:00.. It goes into the shade at 3:00!
