MaxSuffering wrote:"Don't bother going to the High Peaks, won't be worth it..." Really? People chiming in on this thread and people I've talked to personally tell a different story. You could easily have avoided this whole pissing match entirely by just saying "I haven't had much success climbing on holiday weekends, good luck" and left it at that.
Where did I say that? I said I wasn't going to be in the high peaks, otherwise ALL I suggested (as well as a few others who apparently have run from this thread like the plague it is) is that people should consider long approach climbs to increase the odds of getting on what they want and/or solitude, if they seek such things (not everyone does). You have taken a dubious stance against such advice. And now you're telling me I'm a loser because you think I can climb harder but don't? [your words, not mine] There's the arrogant part.

What's worse - I LITERALLY said exactly what you said I should have said in a post on the first page!!!!

"My experience with holiday weekends has rarely been good, with regards to climbing in the highest traffic zones."

THAT's why we're at odds - you can't/won't/don't read.

Between all your preaching there's good stuff, but the Clavin shit gets in the way of hearing the rest of the message.

As for my 'condition' - it's a known thing, something I have a choice in making worse or settling to make do with what I have. Doctor's own words, not mine. You an orthopedic surgeon now too?

Have fun. Be safe.

Of course I ocasionally TR through the chains but I can do that because they are My chains;)
I will respond to this in that thread then(?).

Whining about my whining? See how that works?

Kevin, try to get things straight if you're going to quote me. I NEVER called you a loser, I've NEVER called Anyone a loser based on climbing ability. EVER! In fact what I'm saying is that you COULD be an inspiration, a guy that go dealt a bad hand and made the best of it. Yet instead you choose to be a miserable asshole at every opportunity. I'd like to say it's just the medium but you didn't seem any different when we met in person.

You're taking this all WAY to personally. Go out and get some air, take a little time-out. I have no more time and energy for you, I have a life to get on with. There is no point in arguing with you. If you think the last guy with time and energy to keep on posting wins the argument then go ahead, post a few more times and think to yourself that you've won.

At this point I'm sorry I tried to help people out by pointing out that there is climbing other than the 5-star classics here and that people should come check it out, holiday or not.

Happy climbing.

"you're a quitter", loser, whatever. How's that not personal? Should I take that as a compliment?

Don't quit your day job for motivational speaking.

I don't even know/remember you, so how's that for making a lasting impression? :-/

Like I said at the start of all this, I think Kevin's Irish. I'm pretty sure Kevin's a great guy if you're friends with him. MP just brings out the argumentative side of a person. I think we could all agree on that.

I rest my case. Even I wouldn't read this to another person I met in real life. You know outdoors. Planet Earth Anyone been there lately?

At this point I'm taking nominal pleasure in pointing out the hypocrisy in this max whomever's posts. The climbing side of this discussion probably ended sometime yesterday.

If someone can point out that they remembered me (as a slight), why can't I point out I have no recollection of meeting them? Double standards galore in this thread.

wait I'm confused...is this about littering in Rumney or how crowded crags are getting or what a joke it is to think that a guidebook is the end-all when deciding how quality a route is. You Easterners are a riot. Carry on.

Apparently everyone else's opinion accounts for something, mine not so much?

[the respectfully disagreeing part was tossed out pretty quick, you must be thinking of a different thread]

How about everyone try to add something positive in each post (Like what cliff has a high density of good moderate routes)and take non-related opinionated disagreements elsewhere in another thread (Community sub-forum comes to mind).

Deadwater, Beer Walls, Creature Wall, Barkeater, Owl's Head Lookout are some I visit regularly.

Amen! It's like Jerry Springer or Judge Judy or a fight at Walmart. I just can't look away.

As far as climbing goes, Moss Cliff is open! That's my go-to quality-route no-crowds cliff of choice.

Dude Is that your real last name or are you a troll that simply likes to heckel?
Serious question though that is usually a total waste of effort with a Troll.....

hey traddy,

funny, i was thinking the same thing…

this guy is a text book example of a "contrarian." if you said "black," he'd say "white…" try saying: "up." his reply would be "down…" if you said "right," he'd correct you with: "left…"

and then use some wildly twisted logic to support his opinion.

his posts on "littering at rumney/top roping thru fixed anchors" was classic. basically he stated: 'since the anchors are replaceable, the people who put them there must expect to have to replace them, therefor, it follows we should wear them out, so they can replace them….'

huh??

i can't help but think he's somebody who's either:

1) just way clueless...
-or-
2) just f'ing with everyone…

experience tells me the correct answer is 2…

I had a blast climbing Quadrophenia the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. There wasn't a soul there when we started, which was well past 10am, nor was there a soul there when we left, even after a prolonged stuck rope fiasco. The Adirondacks are awesome!

yea, i have to go with the master troll...

Nick and Ed: No seriously, this guy is real. I've actually met him. He is not much different in person.

Kevin, Hurricane Crag last summer, I think you were with Ben. I had a great view of you going on aid to follow 5.9 from the My Generation belay. Any of this sound familiar? I only recognized you from your "helpful" posts and made sure to give you a WIDE berth lest I get the shit that pours out of your keyboard in person. I'll certainly do the same next time.

Enjoy your status as the Adirondacks internet know-it-all while the rest of us who are actually out climbing laugh at you. And, yes, now I'm just trying to be a jerk.

...But now for the helpful part: Nick, you haven't done Fastest Gun at Poke-O? You have to get back for it, this is a route you can believe the hype on. Hit me up, trade for a tour of Wheeler sometime?

Peter: Glad to hear it. Saranac Lake? Give a shout, I'm in Keene Valley and my schedule for climbing is about to open up.

Nick Goldsmith · · Pomfret VT · Joined Aug 2009 · Points: 440

went over to do FG summer before last. It was a conga line. got spanked on Great dihedral instead. that loose block on P1 freaked me out PTSD from new routing. Totally fried my brain when that thing shifted. My parter did not seem to mind it? he got shut down on P2 though so we bailed and ran up gamesmanship w/ our tails between our legs;)

MaxSuffering · · KVNY · Joined Jul 2012 · Points: 0

Agree 100% that there is NOTHING savory about P1 of Great Dihedral. Lots of future talus on that pitch! The only reason to climb that crap is to get to P2.

Wait a second, the route you wanted to get on was crowded so you just walked to one nearby with nobody on it? Ain't 'dat some shit!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
