Graffiti at Rotary Park

This is typically FoCo highschoolers and contributed to the installation of the fee for Rotary Park. |

So the park service takes care of it? |

You can try goof off Professional strength graffiti remover and a stiff scrub brush..They have organic methods out there that are 3-4x the price of the goo gone..but there's not many "natural" thing out there that will dissolve the paint, especially if it is sprayed on a more porous stone |

I may take a wire brush down there next time I go and see how it works. I know a 7" angle grinder and a wire wheel would get rid of it, but that seems a little excessive. I'll try the wire brush and see if it works. I'd like to avoid throwing chemicals at it. |

This is right on the main path at the bottom of the ridge line. What happened to kids *eating* paint?!We used a product called Taginator at the event sponsered by the NCCC and Larimer Cty. , it worked really well to remove the paint on the Eliminator boulder and elsewhere. There were before and after pics on the NCCC website, maybe they are still there. Take a lot of water if you go this route, you will need to apply the remover several times combined with brushing with a plastic brush , do not use wire on sandstone. If you are serious about getting rid of the grafitti , get some of that Taginator and I'll meet you up there and we'll get it removed. |

Talk to the NCCC before you do anything. |

Talked to the NCCC. Ryan is okay with it. Looks like I've got to order some taginator online as the local places I've checked (Ace and Home Depot) don't stock it. Unless someone has a local source they'd care to let me know about? |
|
LOL talk to the NCCC. We need to have a public forum and take this to a vote! |
|
Taginator is definitely the way to go. |
|
Ben, I have some Taginator on order. I'll let you know before I head up there. |
|
Sounds good Mathias. |

Cool! I'll see how it goes at Rotary before I volunteer for more rock scrubbing. I'm a little ashamed to say I've never been to the Torture Chamber, and don't even know where it is. But apparently little punks with spray paint do. I wish they could just confine it to the (now ruined forever) Hell Cave. |

Ben Scott wrote:Sounds good Mathias. Craig D. just told me some similar graffiti popped up at Torture Chamber. NCCC just ordered a bottle as well so we can tackle both of them. Should arrive next week. Thanks Ben! |

Post up how taginator worked. We used gorilla snot at turtle lake, but there's still some discoloration from the paint that I'd eventually like to get taken off. |

There are 3 graffiti locations that I have seen. East side of penny, the one pictured above, and another just south along that main ridge where the "Hermanos" Graf is. Hanks for handling. I've intended to put the complaint in to the county but keep forgetting. Thanks for handling. |

There's some sharpie scribbling by the one in the picture. The last one you mentioned, I don't know about. Can you tell us about the color design/size so we all know what to look for? I'd love to jump on this on Friday (currently a day off) but I doubt the Taginator will be here yet. Ken, I'll be in touch. I want to make sure I'm using the best approach for best results. |

So Ken Gibson and I went out this morning with some taginator, nylon scrubbing brushes, water buckets, rubber gloves and glasses, to tackle the graffiti. It worked really well. And though it's not absolutely gone, it's much better than it was. We found that leaving the taginator for 20 minutes or more worked well, and that once wet (after the first cleaning) letting the rock dry before reapplying was best. This stuff stings when it gets on the skin, have a very powerful effect on the lungs, and is generally pretty nasty. So if you use it, protect yourself. |

Good work fellas! Thanks for that! |
