Laramie River Canyon Rocks Rock Climbing

See MAP 1 for the drive of off WY State 34 at mm 36 on to Tunnel Rd. MM36 is 53 miles from Laramie and 16 miles west of I25 on WY34. Drive 11 miles west on Turnnel Rd to a green steel gate and take a right thru this gate.

This road is the public access 2-track on BLM land that along with a hike that will get you into this canyon. The gated 2-track for access is about 1 mile east of the Laramie River bridge on the Tunnel Road. Do not walk to this area by the visually obvious way of crossing the land just north of of Tunnel Road near the bridge. To go this way requires permission from the Gibbs Canyon Ranch.

See MAP 2: After finding the Public Access Gate enter it and drive 0.3 mile in the main gully NW and take a faint left for 300 ft. Park at the end of this small finger of a meadow. From here find a faint 2-track northeastward from of the rock tower that is west of this easy going drive/park. From here a ATV-Jeep trail goes briefly north and then westward over a saddle and drops into a small canyon. Follow the atv trail up the canyon to its dead end at a saddle. From the saddle hike north into the adjacent gully and then follow it west downhill to a boulder field where the main climbing portion of the side canyon of the Laramie River Rocks begins which is just above the visible Laramie River.
