You could climb at Urban or Suburban crag if you don't want to go far. Nice selection of routes in your range.

Looks like the weather in St. George is good. Lots of great climbing there.

Thanks a lot for your advice!!!
Will definitely check it out.
I don't mind driving 1-2 hours if there are better, if you have any other suggestions

Also given today's conditions, when do you think we could go climb at red rock?

Anyone know if it's raining in Black Velvet right now? From the radar looks like the escarpment is getting some precip.

just a few really few little drops actually!

I'm at the sandstone quarry parking lot now and I see rain in that direction.. Can't tell if it's falling in BV or one of the other canyons

Sounds like climbing is out for Red Rocks this long weekend???

Yep, RR got rained on pretty well. Go Charleston instead

I was in BV today and it started pouring about noon. Made the drive out exciting. Did calico hills get dumped on also?

I was at sandstone quarry and it started lightly raining around 12:40 and stopped by 1:00, dirt was dry to the touch 15 min later... so unless it rained last night up there it didn't get much. However I believe it supposed to rain today and possibly tom.

The ground is wet here in St George. Seems like maybe RR rock is wet too. We were thinking about coming down. Can anyone confirm?

Also wondering same thing...MP weather reports are calling for light drizzles in the canyons today and Sunday -- any real time observations would be much appreciated.

Anyone know if cloud tower got a lot of rain? Was hoping to do crimson chrysalis but will of course avoid if rock is wet/fragile. Thanks in advance.

Kraft got rained on today, I'd guess the loop did as well.

Just an intermittent drizzle at winter heat wall today

Sounds like today it's ok to climb at calico hills, but not the canyons...is that correct?!?

There wasn't much sun yesterday. There was some rain last night nearby in town. I doubt any sandstone is dry enough for today.

This Wikipedia link of dBZ in conjunction with a Wundermap will help estimate radar reflectivity and thus approximate rain in an area over time.

For those of us who can't do all that fancy stuff on our crappy smartphones and are headed to Red Rock - it should be getting dry enough to climb by today, right? We are coming in from Texas for the week, but took a detour to J Tree to avoid the weekend rain. Would appreciate a quick report from someone who's local. Thanks!

I went hiking around there yesterday afternoon and the ground was still damp. Rock saturated. Then it rained fairly hard in Vegas last night. Climbing is out for at least another day or two assuming sun. Best to climb somewhere else.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
