They most of all know that warm comfort. they also know it's searing heat as well. They more than anyone know that to linger to near and for to long means they will get burned. Is it bad, is it wrong? No, it's living. It' called life. For how long, and for how near, is what we all contemplate. Some cannot resist that last step.Wow that was beautiful. I googled this because I was sure it was some famous poem but saw no results. |

When reading the internet-wide posts on a topic such as this, I remember the math of living: Graham & Dean = 29 & 43 years * 100% = 23 & 43 years of living. Me and most common adventurers = 43 years * 75% = net just over 32 years of real living. Most internet commenters = 43 years * 10% = 4.3 years of living. Thanks for all the positive comments folks. Sad when someone goes. |

Randomly stumbled upon this sweet/intense behind the scenes video. Dean's section starts at 15:18 but I recommend watching the first 15 mins anyways: |
|
Dean was wearing a go pro when he died. I hope the contents are never released. |
|
Condolences to their respective friends and families. |

The authorities have already watched the Go Pro footage and apparently it's shed a little light on the particulars of what went wrong, according to the Denver Post. |

If i was to die with a gopro on I would love for that video to be posted everywhere. It could warn people of where I made a mistake and maybe they wouldn't do the same and at the very least show me going out doing what I love. |

I was taken aback by hearing from the guy who has taken so many iconic photographs. Usually, I don't even think about the person taking the photo, but man, that guy has probably seen and visited amazing places. |
|
Once the investigation is complete, the video--along with other evidence and police descriptions--will become public record. So the video will probably come out eventually. |
|
IMO, the video could be edited for content and released in a tasteful manner. Cut out the impact and post. I believe Potter and Hunt would have welcomed us to join them for their last flight, save the morbid conclusion. Should be a choice of those he left behind. |

Think about the accidents in mountaineering publication every year. We dont read it to gawk and judge, but instead to learn from situations and possible mistakes of others. That is how you progress, not just in a sport, but in life. If something can be learned from an accident that will help future participants in the sport, then it should be learned. There will always be people who dont relate and want to gawk and criticize. its part of life. |

On one side, I do agree that watching other's mistakes can help us to get better. But at the same time, since it may very likely be graphic and the story behind the video clip, the video may be abused by people on the internet. Also, it's tough for the family and friends of the person in the video to see that video constantly popping up on the internet. Not every one likes that... |
