Hey climbers...I was hoping to try out the climbing wall at the Ren Fest in Larkspur this summer, and try my hand at winning $20. Has anyone out there who's done it want to take a guess at what it might be rated? Or...does anyone know? Thanks!

Last time I tried it, it felt 11 or harder. They didn't allow chalk. They don't let you rest much between tries. Good luck!

It's been a few years since I've done it, but I always wore my approch shoes to the ren fair and never paid admission in the long run. They let me do the thing multiple times and paid out each time. I commented that I was a little surprised that they allowed me to come back and do it again since htey knew they'd be paying me. "We're not loosing any money on you... every time you do it, there's a guy like that (points at meat-head watching who just got in line) who gets certain he can too."

A friend of mine ran the wall for years, his advice is to bring your climbing shoes with you for a better chance.

All right, cool. Thanks guys!
I'll bring my own climbing shoes...no problem on the no chalk thing. My husband won some money from it last year (he thought it might have been 11a-ish), when I couldn't cuz I had a hurt shoulder.
This year, we both plan to do it, and use the proceeds to buy some of those amazing smoked turkey legs! Now that I know that we can do it multiple times, even better.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
