Current conditions in the high sierra

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anybody has been in the Palisades or around the Whitney area lately. I'm coming through this weekend and looking for some easy alpine routes to do. I'm deliberating between Dana Couloir + Winter Route on lone pine peak (south facing, gullies + slab) vs. heading towards Palisade Glacier for u-notch/v-notch couloirs.

I'm trying to avoid rock climbing in the cold (which is what worries me about a south facing "mixed" route on lone pine) if there are more alpiny routes to be done, and save the pure rock climbing for when all that's gone, but loosing 1 of my 3 days on the approach to the Palisades isn't that appealing either.

If anybody has been in these kinds of environments in the past week and has any photos or info I'd really appreciate it.

I was up by Mt. dana (on mt. gibbs) a few days ago, I doubt you'd find any alpine ice there, I think it will mostly be a snow climb. Who knows? I could be wrong. To me dana sounds like a long bushy/snowy, scree/talus approach hike to not much in the terms of good climbing. I'm sure the views would be good though!

Oh wait, is there a dana couloir on lone pine peak?

So my plans didn't quite materialize as I thought, but I did see this on a north facing aspect around 10,500ft on 3/22/15. Maybe someone else will find it useful.
