Sunspot Dihedral on the Incredible Hulk

This is super late, but here is a trip report my buddy wrote up for our trip to the incredible hulk in the Eastern Sierras. I've been wanting to go here for the longest time after watching the video of Peter Croft and Lisa Rands climb the Venturi Effect (link to video below). I saw this video when I barely started getting into trad climbing and it really inspired me to push my skills to a higher level. I was pretty content in only climbing moderates during this time because trad climbing really scared me. Anyways here's the trip report...

p.s. It was my hardest lead attempt at this time and I was able to onsight the first few 10c pitches

Nice Jan! TFPU
& you got to meet Croft & Nettle. Cool bonus. Much respect for those two and anybody who sends the Hulk. I was really hoping to meet those two when they were working on Valkyrie in my neck of the woods. Red dihedral is on my wish list but I think Sunspot is a bit out of of my league, but maybe someday.

Good for you!

That was a really neat read, super cool experience man! Also, the "lessons learned" were all very much on point.

Great read, must of been awesome to be there with the FA of the route you were climbing.

Thanks for the response guys! I'm not going to lie, but that approach almost killed me. I suck at hiking and with the elevation and weight of all the gear, I felt like I was going to die. My partner actually thought I wasn't going to be able to climb the next day. It usually takes people less than 3 hours to get from car to base of route and it took us about 5 hours.

Really enjoyed this story, you guys seem to have the healthy spirit of climbing dialed in (not taking yourself too seriously, enjoying the moment, getting stoked in spite of and because of the challenges.)

Goodness is upon you.

Yea it was really cool to see them in their natural habitat and not in some paid meet and greet type of thing. We actually ran into Peter Croft the next time we climbed together in Red Rocks. We shared the same belay as him
