I recently put 2 oval biners at the anchors of "Sports Book" at Casino cliff (used a little climbing tape to loosely secure them to make it obvious that they werent 'booty'). This weekend, i noticed that they were missing. Whoever took them, please replace them or give them back to me and ill replace them. They were put there for everyone to enjoy!

Feel free to pm me if you have any questions.

Thanks!

Say it aint so; thieves at Jacks? Most likely a student from somewhere that sought to liberate your donation. Or a dirt bag simply taking booty cause they can.

If you take them, and use a couple of zip ties secured tightly, rather than tape, there will be less chance of them being stolen. That's what we do around here, and it seems to work well.

You are better off using some 1/2" quicklinks than regular aluminum biners. People don't steal them as often (especially if cranked down) and they last a hell of a lot longer without sharp grooves worn into them. If you really want something people can just drop their rope in, maybe some SS Ram's Horns would be better.

@Manny: that is my assumption as well. either way, im not going to lose sleep over it, i just thought id try.

@Micah: ya i like using zip ties as well but i didnt have any on me so tried to make due.

@Sprague: Jacks Canyon is colloquially known as an outdoor climbing gym (tons of good routes at most grades, tons of traffic, easy access, etc) so the worry isnt making sure theres something to rap off of, but to make it easy and fast (and cheap ;D) for people to clean the route and get the next group in line on the route. I also didnt want to permanently alter the FA's original anchor setup.

Thx!
