Anyone been to Shelf in the past few days? Just wondering what the conditions are. We are thinking of going this weekend. Thanks!

I've been the day after big snow storms and been fine. I haven't been down recently but I think you'll be fine on the sunny walls.

I predict the temperature will increase 10 degrees of you show up.

We are going Saturday for sure. Bring a tarp for the rope to keep it out of the mud.

I was down at shelf today.
as far as the road: I took the route south from Cripple Creek and I would say that the road from cripple creek until the bank is 90% mud with a minimal amount of snow and no ice. The road from the bank to Canon city is completely dry. All of shelf road could have been driven by any vehicle with only a few spots to be careful at. Interestingly enough, the worst part is at the turn off for sand gulch, there is ~ 50 feet of deep mud that I could realistically see a careless car getting stuck in but nothing to worry about if your careful.
As far as the trails, climbing area: A tiny amount of snow and no ice in the shady spots of the sand gulch area. Everything else is dry. Perfect weather for climbing as well. The bank parking lot was nearly full.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
