Hello! I'm planning a trip to Kalymnos later this spring and was considering traveling to Turkey to climb too. I've been looking at climbing near Antalya but it looks like the crags are a bit of a distance from the city. Is there anywhere to stay closer to the climbing? Also I'll be traveling alone. Is it easy to find climbing partners there? Any suggestions on where to meet them? There doesn't seem to be much traffic on the internet concerning climbing in Turkey. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Contact Climbers Garden or Josito in Geyik Beyiri. they can arrange to pick you up from the airport. the camping is right by the climbing. you can also rent a car from them for the day if you need to go into town. not much in Antalya despite what google images leads you to believe. in regards to finding partners, its super easy. i think easier if you stay at josito since more people stay there. Late spring is kind of low season though so im not sure how crowded it will be. Nov-March generally "the season". Olympos might be a better option since its next to the ocean. the campground there is called kadiras tree house.
You could easily spend a day or two in Antalya seeing the sights. Recommend Kaleici for places to stay and eat and fun to walk around the old quarter. Museum in town is fantastic.
Given the popularity of Geyikbayiri and Olympos I'd guess you could scare up a partner or two. The sites nearby are great, so, rest days would be fun.
What are the dates you're planning to be in that area? I too am planning a trip to geyikbayiri and thinking about Olympos at the end of May for about a week. Thanks for posting as I was having very similar questions. If you're going to be there during that time we can link up.
Thanks for the advice! I'll look into the places you mentioned. Trevor, I'm only going to be in the area until April 23rd. It' looks like we'll miss each other. Enjoy your trip!
