I lived in Syringa for a stint and there is not much around. Your best bet is either along the South Fork of the Clearwater River past Kooskia. (Closer) Or driving east on 12 toward Missoula and climbing near Lolo Pass, which will probably be quite snowy.
Also, if you have high tolerance for sketchiness, (rusty nails, rat shit, barn potentially falling down, maybe trespassing?) then there is a bouldering wall built in a boat barn in Syringa. Look for the River Dance Lodge and if you are looking at the lodge, up the hill to the right is an old barn where the rafting company stores their gear. There is a pretty solid bouldering wall built in the barn if you are up for an adventure.
Worth checking out Hot Springs along the Lochsa River as well.
Thanks Nick, If I was going to be there longer I might get desperate enough to try the adventure bouldering wall! I'll probably end up at Riggins for a day or two if I can find a partner. And was going to check out the South Fork as well. Cheers, David
The climbing along the south fork (lightning dome, etc) is really fun. Not sure if it would be dry in March though. It's a pretty drive from Orofino at least.
