Climbing Partner in Ogden, UT. March 16th-20th or any combo of those days...

I'm heading to Ogden from Kansas City, I should be there by Monday, March 16th. I'd like to climb as many days as possible, but even one or two days would be cool. My friends are going to snowboard but I'd much rather climb. I need a partner, as all of the friends I'm going with are not climbers.

I could take you to a few climbs in the Ogden area.

Yes! Finally! (I know it hasn't been very long but it seems like forever since I posted this). I would love to climb with you and I have a laundry list of questions that would probably be best answered by a local. Feel free to answer as many or as few of them as you like and on your own schedule.

1. What's the temp of the walls in March? Do they get enough sun to warm them a little bit during the winter? Or should I try to cold train my hands a little bit?

2. Do have a trad rack/feel like teaching a little bit?

3. I found out that we're actually going to be staying in Eden. I've been trying to find bus routes on the interwebs for a way to get down 39 to the cliff, as I think any bus that goes down 39 will take me as far as I could get if I drove myself. Maybe I'm incorrect? Anyways, I'm wondering if you could help direct my search. What is the name of the bus company there?

4. In March, is 39 icy coming out of the mountains? If that road is dry I could bring my bike and transport myself into town and not have to rely on bus schedules.

5. What days work for you that week to climb? I'd like to be out as many days as possible, but I understand that not everyone can be on vacation at the same time as me...

Thanks!

Sean

#1. We've been at 60° F consistently for two weeks now, but who knows. Maybe it'll drop to 25° or jump to 75°
#4. Road is hardly ever icy, especially not this year. But don't even think about biking that canyon. There is zero shoulder and we like to speed here.

Solid advice for the canyon road. I had a suspicion that it might be that way. I'll rule that out.

What day/days do you guys want to climb? I'm in town all week and have nothing to do, so you tell me when you're available and I'll climb.

During ski season there is a bus that goes from powder mountain to the rainbow gardens area which is basically the limit of Ogden. Its a public bus. I get a bus pass at the beginning of the season, they probably have a way to pay per ride though.

Google uta bus schedule and look around a bit

Yeah, thanks for that link. I saw that but I'm not sure if that's something that I can take down the mountain in the morning and up the mountain in the evening. I'll have to call the bus people, I suppose.

I tried to use UTA's route planner for the street below Schoolroom Wall and it was a frustrating experience. ;-)

I take the bus to snowbasin sometimes. There is an early bus around 8:30 leaving Ogden and a late bus leaving the resort at 4:30 ish if I remember correctly. I haven't taken the bus this year... we only had a two week long winter, lol

The planner thing never worked, try looking for a schedule.

You'd probably need to have someone pick you up at rainbow gardens or ride your bike from there to the best trail head. You could hike to the builder field or schoolroom from the bus stop, but it'd take a while.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
