Best way to clean lichen off of a new route
|
I'm thinking of putting up a first ascent on a very lichen covered piece of Slab and have no idea on the best way to go about cleaning it. I assume it involves rappelling and an immense amount of brushing. I was wondering if anyone happened to have a preferred method, or possibly some tips that may make this ordeal more timely. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! |

I think just leave it and climb. let nature decide who stays: climber or plants. |

If the route is too overgrown, it might not be worth while. A lot of time, the lichen / moss will return as water washes down the rock. If you're simply looking to clean off some hand and foot holds and its not too overgrown, a wire brush will do. |
