It seems that this more or less straightens out the crampon, and I'm attempting to fit a straight object to a curved profile... I will try it none the less and give you some feedback. Thanks - Mike
How do you lever a straight line in a circle? The rear heel lever is constantly trying to pull the crampon straight. The shortest distance is the inside of the curve so the front point shifts in and the toe shifts out. Unless you go to a rigid crampon you will have the same problem regardless of the manufacturer.

I just thought about this after shaking my head a bunch.. The Scarpa Rebel is not a rigid boot. That's what makes the Rebel such a good hiker. The problem is unless you have a rigid crampon you're going to have movement. I use the Cassin Bladerunner with my Rebels. I never have any trouble but the Bladerunner is rigid. I have fit the Cyborgs on my Rebels a couple times now. I don't find any "slop" when I take pictures for this thread but.. I'm not doing anything to flex the Rebel's sole.

Any thoughts?

In my opinion, they are 1/4 size short and somewhere between narrow and medium in width. I wore a 45.5 in the Phantom and a 46 in the Rebel.

Interesting to read Brian,

I wear a 45.5 Rebel GTX but a 46 Phantom Guide. I like the Rebels to be snug and no room in the toe box. I rock those when it's above 20-25F and/or when I'm climbing something hard. The Guides are that cold weather boot that gets worn when TRing with friends or it's cold. Both boots are super comfortable to hike in. The Rebels sole flexes and the Guides in 46 are like walking on pillows..

I can see that. If I wanted a roomy fit in the Phantom, I would've gone to the 46.5 I think. The way I sized them, each pair fit about the same on me: just enough room to not bash my toes on the front of the shoe when kicking. FWIW, I don't think it makes a difference, but mine were the Phantom Ultra instead of the Guide.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
