Keene Valley/ Lake Placid apres-climb hangouts?

What are the common places folks climbing in the Adirondacks hit for the post climb buzz? I've been to the area a few times, and most things strike me as pretty touristy. Does everyone just bring their own booze and drink it at their free public land campsite?

Ausable Inn? Lake Placid pub and brewery (have not been here though, heard it's a hiker hangout mostly).

Lake Placid Pub & Brewery usually has a hiker/climber/general outdoorsy feel to it.

You could always stop at The Mountaineer and ask what the latest spot is, they have all the local knowledge.

Lisa Gs and the Baxter Mountain are great spots to hang out.

There's no Moat in Keene. The locals don't need a bar to hang out in. They have a way better place.

Ausable is the best. Lp brewery is nice but more ski crowd. If your climbing and wanna shoot the shit with some locals or fellow climbers that's the spot

Find some buddies staying at the Keene Valley Lodge , next door to the Mountaineer

I always stayed at the Ausable Inn while ice climbing around Keene Valley with my family. It's also a nice apres climb hang with a decent bar, rocking chairs, roaring fire, and pretty good food. Not really a dirtbag hangout but seems to draw the local climbers most nights.

Don't have a high opinion of most of the bars in Lake Placid except for Lisa G's. Solid food, good drinks, and Lisa is awesome.

Lake Placid Pub and Brewery is a tourist mob scene, at least the dining room upstairs. PJs in the basement of the Pub is a good place to get a beer. The bar Adirondack Steak and Seafood is also great place to get a beer. They too make their own beer and you can get a pretty good food menu at the bar. There are some other spots where the locals hang out but you'll have to find them...

too bad the cowboy (previously Caribbean Cowboy) closed, so sad, great fusion fixing and great margaritas...

+1.. I loved Green Point Foods until they closed. I get outstanding Expresso at New Leaf. It would be nice to get Expresso in Keene or Keene Valley. I wouldn't go the ADK cafe.. Those people are

I just got back from a few days of climbing in that area. Baxter Mountain Tavern always has a great fire going, and you can sit at the bar and be close enough to feel the warmth. Lake Placid Brewing is OK. Luc mentioned the Cowboy. Since that's closed, Liquids and Solids at the Handlebar is a great alternative - very extensive beer list and some awesome food.

I know some people who started the Ausable Brewing Company out that way. They are definitely outdoorsy types (although not climbers). They are closed til spring for renovations but I believe they have a bar/tasting room. Might be worth checking out: facebook.com/AusableBrewing…
