Mountain Tools Super Gaiters
|
Anyone have experience with the MtnTools Super Gaiters? I'm planning a trip to Canada in Feb and am worried my Scarpa Rebel Pros will be a bit chilly if the temps below 0. I've thought about neoprene socks/VBL as well. |

$600+ for boots that don't fit as well and aren't needed for 90% of the time isn't the best option. This is why I'm exploring other pathways. Thanks |

I used a pair of the insulated ones on my Spantiks in Nepal last year. They do make the boot warmer and drier, but are really no substitute for the appropriate boot, meaning I probably would have been fine without them, they just made things more comfortable. They did not turn my Spantiks into an 8000m boot, but they made mornings at 5000m more tolerable. I think it helps a lot to glue them on so that they don't roll off on you. They are also a PITA to put on, so get them on, add some barge cement and leave them on for a while. They're not going to turn a single boot into a high altitude mountaineering boot. If you get them, I'd recommend trying them out in a low-commitment environment, ie a place where if your toes get cold you can get back inside in a reasonable amount of time...don't make your first trip with them a multiday climb. |

Thanks, as long as they work as advertised and stay on the boot. I'm looking to make my boot more comfortable for single day stuff. Figure adding the super gaiter will make the boot more equivalent to a Phantom Guide or Batura, which will do just fine for my use. |

What size boots? I have a pair I will sell. They fit a size 44 very tight |

Boots are a 44 and measure out to a size medium for the super gaiters. |

If it's just for single day use, check out thermacell insoles - heat.thermacell.com/heated-… |
