Bought and paid for....looks like a great guide....it takes fortitude to write one of these guides, all the time knowing you will never make enough money to cover the massive effort. I wish you safe climbing and good karma for your efforts.

I flipped through the book at Mountainworks, it's gorgeous. Worth it for the pics alone.

I looked through a copy at IME. Very impressive. Any update on when the first copies will be available for those on the list?

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to give you all an update on the book. In printing there are a few checks that happen when you can’t physically monitor the printing process. After the files are give to the printer, they send a digitally printed proof. This is used to check color, find any major issues, etc. Once that is approved, they start printing the book using the digital proof as a baseline to match color and quality. Once they have finished printing the book, they again send a proof (called a F&G) before they make the final step to bind the book. Unfortunately, the F&G proof for Beehive Ice was bad and the print quality and color did not match the original proof. Fortunately, the printer owned up to the fact that the printing plant they used did not do a good job and are going to re-print the entire thing. Unfortunately, this means another delay, somewhere between 1-2 weeks. They have said that I will have copies by the 15th of January. I’m sorry for the delay and appreciate you patience. If you would like a refund on your pre-order, let me know.

I also want to let you know that we are planning a book release party on January 15th at the Petzl Institute starting at 7:00. Myself and Andrew Burr will each give a slideshow on Utah Ice and will try to have as many of the contributors, Utah ice first ascentionists and others on hand to sign copies of the book. Entrance will be a $5.00 donation to the Salt Lake Climbers Alliance. We plan on having copies of the book available for those who pre-ordered as well as copies for sale on-site.

Thanks again for your support. The main ice season is starting to look pretty good. Hope to see you out there.

Picked up my copy yesterday.

I've got to say that this may be the best climbing guidebook I've ever seen.

Lots of useful climbing guidebook stuff, plus great photos, interesting historical and personal anecdotes. Very good production quality.

Excellent Work!!
