House and Barn boulders in Westford, MA?
I think "boulder" is a relative term. There are definitely rocks. They could use another ice age or two though... |
Cogshall park in Leomonster has some fun blocks to climb and the further you hike back the more rocks there are to explore. |
Cogshall Park in Fitchburg? Never thought to look there. Haven't come across much in the state park though. Aside from what is already posted here on MP. There are some nice large boulders in Garfield Woods in Berlin that rival the Berlin Boulder in size. |
I've spotted a few large blocks on google map around Leominster state park. Eastern ma revolution! |
Bing Birds Eye view will sometimes get you a closer look then Google when hunting for boulders. |

I wouldn't travel to far to climb at cogshall but if your close its fun... |

Leominster state forest was a bust again. Time to head back to Westford... Has anyone walked the opposite side of that chunk of forest??? |
I'll be in Chelmsford area until Sunday with a couple crash pads and a fairly open schedule. I'd be up for exploring Westford or any other nearby areas if anyone wants to get outside. |
I know a little spot in westford, went there one time after work with a small pad and one brush. Nice 15ft highball with Veasy - V4 on that one face. Few more workable small boulders and traverses on what looks like old weathered cut rock. |
We walked the whole woods last week and miiiiight have found what you're talking about. Did you find a pic Evan? |
Did some exploring today at Sarah Doublet Forest Littleton MA. There is one sizable boulder in there. Did some scrappy lil problems on it in the v1-3 range. |
would you say it is worth it if you live in littleton? I live about 5 minutes from there so maybe I'll check those out...no pad though. |
I prob had better time wandering around than the climbing itself. If it's close and you want a nice walk and a scrappy boulder go for it. |
Found an 8 ft tall Choss block at Flagg hill I'm boxborough. Seems like the same crystal littered rock as littleton. On to the next set of woods! |
Any one ever explore around the warren/ware mass area we found some bigger boulders and small cliffs in the area when I lived out there. If any one has any info that would be awesome especially like the devils peak, rock house reservation areas. We climbed a few boulders around the rock house reservation but a lot of it was much harder than what my buddy or I climbed. |
Jake, this might be what you are talking about: vimeo.com/49087035 |
Any details on where that problem in the video is? Access issues? |
Mark, the video was taken in Rock House Reservation. I don't believe there are any access issues, as it is trustee land; at least, their website doesn't explicitly prohibit climbing. |
Thanks. It looks cool. |
