Keoh hot springs
going to bishop tomorrow and i forgot the details regarding keoh hot springs. do they usually run all year long and stay warm or is the hot water/springs controlled by the actually building up top...im talking about the free local spot underneath the electrical poles |
BTW I'm heading up tomorrow to boulder half day lunch till dark and all day wednesday if someone wants to come join a party of 3. We will most likely go to the Happies. |
Keough's(free spot) is warm all year but is controlled by the "resort". In my opinion it is not really worth it, as the place is usually a shit show and the water can get REALLY gross. If you look closely sometimes there are these tiny red worm things in there! Just get a ten punch pass or go up the hill. |

ten punch pass? |

Yes. The green church area has many tubs. They are generally well used but a majority of the time the people are pretty chill. I understand that they are way further away than Keough's but they are substantially more enjoyable(unless weirdos are occupying the tubs). There is a guide book that lists many of them. Hilltop or the Crabcooker are my favorites. Crabcooker is a little harder to find and in my experience less likely to be occupied. |

Several miles south of bishop, look for the sign and head up they road for maybe less than a mile. Take one of the dirt roads to right. The upper most pool was crystal clear and we were the only ones in it mid November. |
I've had some mixed experiences at the Keough free springs ... plenty of loud litter throwing party people , and some quiet nights under the stars (and buzz of electricity ) |
Everybody and their entire family knows about the 'green church' tubs now. Those tubs used to be cool. All tubs were packed last time I was up there. Used to be just locals, climbers and skiers at those tubs but this last time there were fishermen, rv'ing euros, camper vans everywhere, 395 tourists and more. Lines were formed. It was insane. |

^complains about crowded hot springs on the internet, |

Keough sign. That pool was crystal clear sandy bottom, zero glass, zero litter and zero other people. This was November. I guess we were lucky. |

You want a complaint? I could complain about your irrelevant post for a little while. Sorry, couldn't resist either. |

anyone know this hot tub ...? |
I ended up going to Keough hot springs again both nights I was there because we were just to tired/lazy to drive up to the Green Church turn out hot springs. Keough Hot springs was clean, minus few cig butts people left on the flat rock people use as a table, water was warm and we were the only 3 each night there (granted it was a weekday when we were there). |
