LOST GEAR in JTree on 12/7/14 - left near base of Exorcist (Hall of Horrors area)

Items are all attached as part of an anchor we had set up on Nurn's Romp:

One sling (with two biners, camp photon black and grey)
A #1 cam,
2 nuts
Blue cordelette
3 locking carabiners.
Most of the items should have had blue tape on it

After a long day at the Hall of Horrors, my friend rapped down from the rappel station near Exorcist ( mountainproject.com/v/exorc… ), after cleaning the anchor from above Nurn's Romp and tossed me the gear. When he pulled the rope from the rap rings, it got stuck in a crack on the way down, and I set the anchor gear down to help him deal with the stuck rope. Neither of us can recall picking up the anchor again afterward, and are pretty certain that we left it near ground level, somewhere near the large blocks to the left hand side of exorcist (if one is looking up at it from the ground).

If anyone has any information on this gear, please contact Matt Schreiner at 1-925-788-2027 and/or Vanessa Marx at 1-617-803-7251

UPDATE - I found a picture showing the last known location of this gear! This is a shot of myself and my friend trying to free the rope that got stuck after rapping, with the gear that I set down and forgot visible in the red circle:

GPS coordinates would be helpful.

Thanks Marty - This is my best estimate of the exact GPS coords:

33.999973, -116.146703

approximate GPS coords of last known location of lost gear, below start of The Exorcist (5.10a) in the Hall Of Horrors

Matt,

I hope you get your stuff back, but don't count on it.

Marty was pulling your leg about the GPS coordinates.

Guy, it wasn't a "whole rack," just an anchor.

Frank .... my bad. :>) .... the list of gear is enuf to do almost all the climbs in JT.

This is a pretty funny troll, IMHO, you leave gear laying around, its booty or litter.

Dear Guy.

Thank you for your incredulous remarks, they have been extremely helpful.

No Pot was consumed during the events described above. It was the end of a long day, we were losing sunlight, and the gear was not even mine. Another group of friends were leaving earlier than us, and had left the anchor/gear under discussion above Nurn's Romp for us to TR from, and had asked that we just clean it and return it to them when we were done.

If this had been my own gear, I'm sure that I would have noticed the missing weight and extra room in my pack. If it was mine, I also would be quick to chalk it up as a total loss and just buy new gear. Unfortunately, its not just my stuff. Losing a friend's gear (when they trusted you to take care of simple task like cleaning it properly and returning it) is a pretty shitty feeling. Hence, all of the effort I am putting in to trying to get her this gear back.

Thanks for chiming in.

Thanks Frank, I clearly didn't get the joke initially but I appreciate it. I hoped the pics and coords would provide enough info for someone to figure out where the gear is if they were in the area, but if I don't hear anything positive back in the next few days I'll just buy my friend new gear to compensate for the loss.

Matt.... didn't mean to be harsh, but with all the "lost gear" topics on MP it gets pretty old... people asking for bail biners, lost one shoe, chalk bag, 18" sling etc all just gets old and tiresome.

If you rockclimb you need to learn not to get all of your gear-, yes if you borrowed it its yours,... scattered all over the ground, up top etc.

I do hope that fate changes and some kind soul who picked up your stuff figures it out and returns it to you.

And the POT thing is one of the oldest jokes on the net.

Happy climbing
