As the title says does anyone know which shops in Boston have a good selection of mountaineering boots as I'll be going there soon.

The shops around here don't have a good selection.

REI in reading has Nepal Evo's last I looked, and a few pairs of lite mountaineering boots. Only other place I can think of is IME in North Conway.

I hate to say it, but there aren't any. Last time I looked the REI here had stopped stocking mountain boots, and the EMS stores only carry a small handful of styles (it was two Sportivas and one Scarpa style last time I looked).

The nearest places I know of with good selection are the EMS and IME in North Conway.

The Mountaineer in Keene Valley has a fairly decent selection.

Rock and Snow in New Paltz, I believe, also has a decent selection.

Outdoor Gear Exchange in Burlington also has a good selection. Maybe the best.

Tent and Trails in Manhattan used to have a good selection, but I have no idea if they still do, as I haven't been there in like 10 years.

The good news, 3 of the 4 places I listed have rock and ice climbing a few miles from the store, so you can integrate a gear/climb trip.

REI in Reading stocks in the Evo's and trango cube's still. OGE in burlington has the best selection of boots in the northeast hands down, with IME in second.

Ah right thanks, well I won't waste time in Boston finding boots when I could be drinking beer then. I guess I'll have to buy in North Conway, wanted a chance to break them in first though!

It at IME make sure to check out the consignment stuff down stairs. I was bummed once I couldn't find any Anasazi Verdes, went down stairs and found 2 brand new pairs exactly my size for $70 each. I think they get a lot of winter stuff

True, but I know the OP travels around to climb from his other post. So I was being helpful since it didn't sound like there was much option in Boston.

I'm assuming he wants to try them on and that being the case, it might be worth a road trip to try on several different pairs and compare.
