Anyone have any experience with tendon brand ropes?

Sure, used them for at least the last 10 years. I´ve currently got 4, they do what they are supposed to do at a good price.

Yes, they are good ropes, durable. Compared to other companies, they tend to cut their ropes short. Many people I know who use tendon's refer to a "tendon 60," otherwise known as a 58 meter rope.

Are they Still distributed in the USA? I have a really nice single-pick 60m and have liked others as well but they're hard to find right now I believe.

Good Ropes though

Yeah, They sell at least some online, for a great price too (150 for a 70m) Thanks for the info

I've got a few of them -- they're my cragging/TRing rope, reasonably good handling, reasonably durable, and a bargain at the price. I generally order them from lacordee.com in Montreal -- free shipping in Canada over $100. I've usually gotten them for under $100 for a 60m 10mm rope, waiting for a special or online coupon.

I own and use the ambition and smart extensively

Many folks around squamish have em the last few years ever since i posted about em going on sale for 70-80$ each for a 10mm 60m

They work just fine and are fairly supple, and they give soft catches

They are also fairly durable ... My current one has ~1000 pitches and still works

I dont find em any shorter than my mammuts

They are a poor mans beal, but a bit more durable

;)

Pretty sure they are made Lanex, and while I don't have any Tendon ropes, I did own some other lanex ropes. They were excellent ropes that everyone had nice things to say about. I'm fairly certain Metolius ropes are Tendon/Lanex.

Tendon has been the climbing brand for Lanex ropes since 2005, Lanex AS is the owner of a number of other climbing gear brands such as Singing Rock and Raveltik. The Lanex brand is nowadays used for the marine and industrial rope business. Metolious used to sell them but no idea who makes their new series.

I believe Metolius Monster Ropes are Lanex ropes or did they change their supplier recently?

The specs on the 7.8mm monster are identical to the tendon. I wish I could replace the 8mm I have, especially for what I paid $200 for 60m doubles, dry. Fantastic ropes even if I paid more.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
