patagonia advice and any rwanda knowledge?

Hi, I'm planning on doing some trekking in Patagonia Jan/Feb, mostly hiking but could be interested in more mellow rock and mountaineering routes if anyone has good suggestions for those and I can find a partner. Likely leaving from Buenos Aires early January and making my way slowly down the coast of Argentina (to see coastal wildlife) then heading up through the national parks in Chile/Argentina (to see mountains), but the exact itinerary is not set in stone.

Also, wondering if there is a 'not miss' area, in people's opinion, of this part of South America? Or any general tips for travel they'd want to share?

If anyone will be in the area (I know, it is a huge area, sorry for the vagueness) and wants to do something mellow on their rest day/week, feel free to send me a mssg as well. I have mountaineering gear and climbing gear, but not sure how much of it I will bring since I will be traveling around for at least a month and will need room for camping stuff.

/Also I have a possibility for a job partially in Rwanda, near Kigali, does anyone know if climbing exists in this area at all? Just trying to get a complete feel for what that area of the world has. Will likely be doing much more work than climbing if I take the job, but just curious!

RE Rwanda.
I am in living in Tanzania not to far from Rwanda, so i have been already doing a little research on climbing there. The best resource I have found is here. The Crag-Rwanda
Nearby Uganda has quite a bit of climbing and a very active outdoor community.
Not climbing related: Rwanda is a gorgeous country full of friendly people. It has some of the most progressive laws in East Africa and is developing rapidly.

A must read before you go is "Crazy River", by Richard Grant. Not at all related to climbing, but will provide a bit of flavor and insight about the region.

Great, thanks to both for the book and website suggestion for Rwanda. Looks like there is some climbing not so far from Kigali, which is cool, I will have to at least bring a few climbing things with me. Also glad to hear nice things about Rwanda in general!

I lived in Kigali for 6 months in 2010 - awesome place. Check out livinginkigali.com/ and the yahoo group Kigali Life just for general tips on places to live and things to do. Kigali Life is basically like the Rwandan version of Craigslist - should be able to find out if there's anyone interested in climbing through that. There was some Belgian guy with a woodie in his driveway when I was there, unfortunately don't remember his name and he's likely moved on since then anyway.

Also the National Parks have a lot of fun hiking, if you're into that sort of thing. Mt. Bisoke is a great day trip up in Ruhengeri.

I am moving to Rwanda soon from Nairobi. I am looking for the climbing community? And clubs? Or just great people who like to get out on weekends to adventure climb? Contacts?

I am sad to leave the amazing climbing country of Kenya, but am looking forward to exploring Rwanda. Any climbers out there? Hoe can I reach you?

Great, thanks so much for the website! Jenny, I'll let you know if/when I end up there--likely in March--maybe we can climb.

The penguin colony south of Rio Gallegos was pretty cool. The drive isn't the easiest, but if you're already in the coast, it's worth it. So many penguins.

FYI, there is climbing in Rwanda. Some sketchy bolts, some trad, lots of places for top roping and some bouldering places. There is a google group for climbers and a whatsapp group, if anyone on this forum is into climbing but hasn't found that group, send me a PM and I can connect you!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
