Hi guys, I hope you can help - a couple of friends of mine embarked on a road trip a couple of weeks ago. The mother of one is concerned that she hasn't heard from her daughter for some time. Their plan was to fly to LA, then go to Joshua Tree, Redrocks & Yosemite. Unfortunately it was very last minute and they're not particularly organised so I don't know in which order they're visiting places.
Their particulars are as follows:-

if you've seen them in the past 2 weeks please post up here or call or text me on - I'm in the UK so keep the time of day in mind! Hopefully they're simply out of signal range. Thanks in advance, Toerag

Did the daughter say she was going to call her mom? I mean, they look like adults to me and perhaps they are just having a good time. I didn't call my parents once from any of the road trips I have taken in the past 20 years.

Stich - yes, they are adults and should be fine - he's sailed the Atlantic and she's spent a month attempting to cross the North Patagonian ice cap. Apparently her parents are expecting more contact, hence their concern.

Panic over!!! They'd been out of signal range :-)

I'm glad they're OK. Sounds like a fun trip. Are they willing to adopt me and bring me along on their adventures?
The US is a pretty big place and in the interest of keeping our parks free of cell phone towers, we have many large areas that are out of signal range. And while most hotels/McDonalds's/Starbucks offer free Wi-Fi these days, it's not in the parks or campsites. Because they're safe and enjoying their trip, you should change the title or delete this thread when you get a chance.

Now you are obligated to post a trip report of their travels with pictures.

Good idea! And thanks to whoever modified the thread title for me :-)

out of cell range is my favorite excuse, people sometimes believe it too

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
