Hey guys,

I'll be in Majorca for a conference next week and can't bear the idea of not hopping on some of the island's rock while I'm there. Sunday through Friday I'll be in Paguera, but depending on the location could probably travel to crags some distance away (although I haven't decided whether it's worth renting a car or not). The other days I don't have accommodation lined up and could be pretty much anywhere. I'm primarily a moderate sport climber, but am keen to try just about anything outside.

Even if y'all aren't going to be on the island, I'd appreciate any general tips regarding climbing, places stay, crags to stay away from, what can I expect weather and crowds wise this time of year.

Thanks!

Hi Cameron,

I was just in Mallorca a few weeks ago and honestly, I have to say that it was one of the more logistically challenging places I've been for climbing. The left side of the island has some great sport climbing, the right side is primarily psicobloc. If you only have a few days and a car, I would suggest checking out the psicobloc. Finding Cala Barques can be tricky without a guidebook but it's great to go there because of its popularity and liklihood that you would meet other climbers. If you're keen on climbing there, staying in Porto Cristo is a nice bet. Don't camp, it's not comfortable and reeks of poop.
If you want somewhere to stay to be closer to sport climbing I recommend Bunyola or Soller. Anyway, PM if you have any questions!

Thanks for the tips Sarah!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
