Searching doesn't work in version 3.0 on my iphone 5s iOS7.

When i start typing i get the little "thinking" pinwheel in the search field but it never finds any results. After I do this, it seems to have trouble opening installed areas. I can click the state, and the area, but now it takes super long to open the area.

I have the latest update for MP on iOS and for some reason I cannot sync my personal page from the app.

I am enjoying the latest update, the app in general is behaving smoothly and I like the new organization! Good job guys :)

Quick little bug report, when I delete the last area from a state, the app crashes. Presumably the issue has to do with being in the state submenu and suddenly having no areas in that state anymore.

Exact steps:

(Had Tahoe Vicinity & Yosemite installed)
Go into California
hit "Edit"
Remove both areas
(app crashes)

Minor bug, as the app works just fine when restarted and I was not prevented from deleting the areas.

If I pick an item near the end of a long list, look at it, then go back...it goes back to the top of the list every time. Is it possible to have it not go to the top and instead stay on the last item selected? This is a nightmare with long lists when you are jumping back and forth between nearby climbs.

Not liking the organization too much either. Now I have to download dozens of areas just to get the one I want? And I have to scroll through them all every time even though I don't need them? This ties in with the issue above with long lists as well. I understand organization is important, but not at the expense of usability.

Also, any chance we can have an option for larger/bolder text? The new version is harder to read than the old (v2) version. This is just going to get worse for us older folks as our eyes age. Version 2.3 was much more readable.

  • Just use the Left/Right arrows on the top right of the screen to browse through routes, or swipe them left and route to avoid going back to the list. This is new with version 3.0
  • Downloaded areas didn't change from prior versions.
  • Except in a few very small cases, font sizes didn't change from prior versions. All significant text blocks are the same.

This seems to work ok for the most part. It's the "To Do" list that I'm having the main issue with. Since it's just one big list you always go back to the top no matter what route you selected. Having it stay on the last route you selected would be helpful enough. It would be even better if there was some way to easily jump back and forth between the To Do list route and the specific area the route is in without losing your place in either. Or maybe a better idea is to add some kind of mark next to routes that are also in your To Do list? Just throwing out ideas...

I haven't downloaded any Pennsylvania areas from scratch in a long time but since updating the app I now have to download all of "South Central PA" just to get "Safe Harbor". Before I was able to download just Safe Harbor by itself. What I am saying is I don't want or need to download 20+ areas just to get one. Maybe this is just specific to Pennsylvania? I haven't noticed this with other areas I've downloaded.

Here is a direct comparison between the old and new version. If the font sizes haven't changed then maybe it was just bolded before. Whatever the difference is, the new version is a strain to read, especially in bright light. Would it be possible to have area/route names in bold like before? Anything to make it more readable.

I ran into bugs downloading part of Wyoming once, and Nick informed me they were grouping up a few areas into one, presumably many small areas.

You may not need to download all 20 areas, but from what I recall Boulder, CO with its ~3500 (?) routes is only about 20MB. Many packages for smaller regions are half a megabyte or less.

When you go to the forum on the app I'd be nice if you could view other people's profiles, this would be useful for the partner forum.

I second Zack's motion. All user names need to be links to profiles in the mobile app and mobile web version. Even if the user does not have a profile photo.

Couple responses:
1. Good idea about maintaining the position in To Do list. Implementing that is on our list.
2. Another good idea to link to user's page in the forum. On our list.
3. Data packages are created by whatever is immediately below the state "area". This unfortunately changes from time to time as states get re-organized (it has happened in WA and PA recently, for example). There has been debate in other forums about the best organization system ("big" areas that cover a large part of a state versus much smaller individual crags) and the best arguments tilted towards bigger regions. As for the impact on the phone, even huge areas (say 50MB) are only using 0.3% of your phone storage and take maybe 1 minute to install, so that's a small factor compared to usability.

The latest release had a ton of changes and is quite stable, so I'm afraid there won't be a new release for a few months now.

Thanks Nick!
Question about photos, when I update an area, do I need to re-download all the photos or is there a way to only download the new/modified ones?

Don't really use the phone for this app, but use the Samsung note 2014. The problem is that the display is completely blank. It loads, and I can randomly poke around on the screen and get the occasional blink, but the screen remaims blank.

When you update an area, the data packs include new photos, but only the thumbnail size. I you later tap "Download all photos" for an area, that will be smart and download the high-res versions for only the ones you have not downloaded in the past.

When I return to a list of routes from a route detail page, the list scrolls to the top. Super annoying on long lists.

Can there be an option for us old climbers for a bigger font size? Maybe respect the phone's accessibility font size? I understand that certain blocks of text, if bigger, might break the layout, but any body text that wraps could be bigger without breaking anything. I can configure my phone to enable me to zoom in, but then I have to scroll back and forth continually, since when zoomed in, the text is wider than the screen.

It installs fine for me, so it's mostly likely a corrupted database on your phone. Uninstalling the entire app, then reinstalling it from this page should reset everything and make it work. Sorry for the hassle!

I didn't read through this whole post so please disregard if this has already been covered.

It would be nice if it were possible to add areas / routes / comments while offline then bulk upload via sync. Maybe this would be a development nightmare though.

Either way, the app is already great and very useful so thanks a lot!!

the App crashes periodically as of recent, also it always crashes when trying to sync
