...Remember that the only way to really test how good a fixed pin is, is with a hammer. (Or by falling on it...)

Back up fixed pins whenever possible!

Looked great until it was pulled out by hand.

I have a bunch of old fixed pins that I wiggled and pulled out by hand. Rock and Snow in New Paltz used to have a collection of old manky pins on display with a sign that read "Rust never sleeps".

Piton removed from Bat Outta Hell at Pilot Mountain, NC.
This pin was removed from Bat Outta Hell at Pilot. I had previously fallen on the pin and it held (backed up, of course) before it was removed by hand.

that is why I generally clip fixed pins with a screamer.

If I fell on a fixed pin, "I" would be the screamer :). Of course, I back them up, so no worries, and no noise.
