Trying to plan a trip to Thailand with the wife and was hoping to get some input by others that have been... I'm thinking of climbing by Railey/ Tonsai beach area. Wondering if anyone has advise on the best places to stay, eat, and if there is anything there to watch out for.

When will you all be going? I'm looking for climbing partners for a November trip.

Sam Lightner Jr. has a guide book with good info and the funds go towards the rebolting effort.

My 2 cents- Depending on how much time you have... I wouldn't try to squeeze too much in. It takes a little time to get over the 20+ hours of flying. We stayed at the Railey Beach Club. It was awesome. Great location and a short walk to multi-pitch sport climbing on the Thaiwand Wall. Go see Jane she owns The Railay Rock climbing shop and speaks great English. It's the nicer looking shop in the main shopping area. She can give you the local beta and route recommendations based on your skill level.

- We were there Feb- March. It is HOT! You need to be up early and chase the shade. The Thaiwand Wall was windy and shady most of the day that time of year Feb-Mar.

-Go straight to the beach don't pass go! A month at Railay would go by quick!

- Definitely do one of the deep water solo trips. But don't eat the lunch bring your own food. Plan to rest the day after DWS you will be wrecked.

-Don't eat anything from Tonsai

-Don't go to Thailand and just stay at the cliff. There is a ton to do in the area. The hike to the lagoon inside the mountain is pretty cool.

The post was from last year, but I may be able to take some vacation time. Where do you live? What level are you looking to climb at? It is pretty amazing and would love to go back.

Yeah I know it is an old post but I thought it would be better to refresh it than to create a new one. I am from Poland, 5.10a/b for now.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
