Great news for the southern Arizona climbing community!: Eric Ruljancich (aka:"Canada" Eric) is running to be the Chairperson of the Southern Arizona Climbers Coalition (SACC). Elections are being held via online voting starting September 9th, and all dues paying members will be allowed to vote, anonymously, online.

I have started this thread to encourage positive conversation about this, please keep it this way. Thanks!

I’m endorsing “Canada” Eric for Chairperson because I think he will be a great leader for SACC this year. I need his open and honest leadership to support my volunteer work as a Board Member with the Coalition. If you would like to know more about my personal experience on the SACC Board of Directors, feel free to ask.

I've found “Canada” Eric to be a trustworthy person that is interested in transparency within SACC. His experience in stewardship and working with Land Managers seems particularly valuable in advocating for climbing in Southern Arizona.

Please join SACC, as a dues paying member, and vote for "Canada" Eric Ruljancich as Chairman of the Board. Voting starts after our monthly meeting on Sept 8th.

Here is the link to our SACC FB Donation App so you can join (it's only $20 for a year membership). facebook.com/saccbeta/app_1…

You can also pay your $20 dues via PayPal:
paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?c…

You may also pay dues in person at our monthly meeting, this Monday the 8th at Barrio Brewing starting at 7:00.

Thank you so much!

I was thrilled when I heard that “Canada” Eric Ruljancich had decided to run for the SACC board chair position. I have known Eric since 2004 and can gladly attest that his character, thoughtfulness, and insight make him an outstanding person to take on this role. Eric is unfaltering in his honesty and integrity, he is forthright, open, and selfless. He is a role model of building positive relationships and bringing out the very best in people.

In addition to Eric's great character, his experience level for this role is terrific. He developed his own youth corps / youth education program ground up, including building the curriculum, providing extensive training for his staff, and managing its projects. By its very nature, this venture required him to work very closely with land managers to integrate their needs/requirements into service projects being done by his work crews. I have found Eric to be professional, thorough, and exceptionally knowledgeable in this work. Beyond this, Eric currently chairs a nonprofit board, is richly experienced in climbing, and is invariably committed to serving the community.

Eric has established a strong set of goals if elected as the chair of the board of SACC. I spoke with him recently and was impressed with his vision. Just a few of his goals include promoting transparency and accountability within the organization, developing a wide range of workshops, building strong relationships with land managers and other organizations, and promoting outreach and education. He had much more in mind, and I am excited to see his vision become a reality.

Eric has been a true and strong leader in the community for a long time now. I am sure that the many people who have met him over the years will agree that his reputation has been well-earned. I fully support Eric in this endeavor and hope you will as well.

Many thanks to Eric Sophiea for starting this thread!

There are other Board positions open, if anyone would like to be more involved. And anyone that becomes a member of SACC can run for any Board position as all of them are up for election. You could run against me and take my coveted Treasurer position! ;)

Bump for Canada Eric Ruljancich. To vote you need to be a current member. Follow the directions Eric S posted above.

Voting is done online so those who are unable to attend the meeting can participate.

Wow so you don't even have to be and American citizen to be a Chairperson at SACC.
What is this world coming to? Southern Arizona is in America people, not Canada.

I jokingly told Canada yesterday that I was going to start a movement to check his birth certificate. :)

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
