That website is super smooth to use. I't's a little bit like Kickstarter I guess. Even of you just have a few dollars to spare, please go and donate. It will take all of two minutes and everyone's little bit will eventually go a long way.

I did have a question about the accident. When I was up at Peanuts Wall about a month ago, I saw two gentlemen projecting what the belayer said was to be a new route in the 11+ range right at the center of the Lower Peanuts wall where the talus field meets the wooded trail. Is that the route that Wayne fell on?

Thanks Lauren! Also a big thanks to BPDank!

If anyone is wondering… Lauren's website is the official spot to check for any major updates
on how Wayne is doing, and it also links you directly to the families donation page.
Very smooth - easy to use. Help out a brotha from another motha!

Cheers everyone! One major update I will put here is the brain stem is ok after a recent MRI !!!
This is absolutely great news, but Wayne is still far from "Outta the woods…"
Please keep sending him positive vibes! WAKE UP WAYNE!

Thank you to everyone that is praying, sending positive vibes for Wayne. It's heart warming to read everyone's posts and amazing that people that have never met Wayne care. It's going to be a long road for Wayne and I hope that all future climbers can learn from his accident. Peace - Jen Fox (Wayne's sister)

I didn't know Wayne or his friends and family, but I just wanted to send my condolences. I have been in the hospital for the past 5 days with my girlfriend who was in a terrible climbing accident at the Bucksnort Slabs on Saturday. I just wanted to say that even though these forum posts are for another climber, all of the love pouring out on MP was really encouraging and gave me some much needed spirit-lifting. Keep up the good work everyone and keep fighting Wayne!

Justin, I am so sorry to hear of your girl friends accident and injury. Consider you and she as part of the tribe. Our thoughts go out to you both as well. Positive vibes for her healing.

Minor Update: Wayne is opening his eyes more often and for longer periods and looking about but still not following commands. He continues to move about in bed. Doctors are using 'wakeful' meds during the day and ventilating him and using sleep meds to try to regulate his diurnal patterns.

Tess remains very hopeful, steadfast and appreciative of the climbing community's support. 3 y.o. Kaiden saw his father in the hospital for the first time and is managing that experience quite well.

Keep the good thoughts, healing vibes and prayers headed their way.

Wake up, Wayne!
Keith

Thanks for the update. Here's to hoping he starts following commands soon. This can be a long, painful process.

From Tess....

Wayne has moved out of ICU to an intermediate neuro-trauma unit at St. Anthony's where he will remain for days (or weeks -still undetermined) until he is ready for rehab. The swelling has gone down significantly on the left side of his head and his doctors are discussing replacing the bone flap in the near future. He has made slight improvements neurologically. He is often 'awake' during the day (with the assistance of drugs), he will make eye contact, follow movement around the room and gives out smiles here and there along with grimaces when he is uncomfortable. He is not considered awake enough by his doctors to go to rehab and he has yet to follow commands. His most recent MRI shows bruising on both sides of the brain. Of particular concern is bruising in an area that affects cognition and speech. We are still waiting and watching as the brain continues to heal and form new neural pathways. It will still take some time before we know how much permanent damage there may be.

He has had surgery on his clavicle and elbow and his bones are on their way to mending. He has been breathing on his own now for about a week, though he still has remnants of a lung infection and lots of congestion.

Visitors are welcomed now. We'd prefer not to overwhelm him with too many at once, so please get in touch if you want to come by. Afternoons are usually better since his doctors and other therapists are with him in the mornings.

Thank you again for all the love and support. This is going to be a long road, but I am so grateful that there IS a road. I have faith that Wayne's strength along with the prayers and positive energy you are sending him will go a long way towards helping him recover.

Love,

Tess

All the best friends do, Paul.

This weekend Wayne opened his eyes for quite awhile when I was there and he was arching his eyebrows like he always does.

It's gonna happen!

How's Wayne doing?

Great news Wayne keeping his eyes open for increasing periods of time.

Also, the Give Forward fundraiser has raised over $27k with only 206 donations!!!! Holy shit guys, that's awesome, let's keep the word out about this so we can get to the $35k goal.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
