Hey climbers! I just got a job offer in which I can choose between Salt Lake City or northern Rhode Island. Focusing on adventures and climbing (not real estate, night life, etc.) what are your thoughts on either area.

To help guide the "well it depends on what you like" answer, here's some quick points:
- love high Sierra climbing
- never lived far from the beach but ready to explore
- mountain bike a little
- started skiing this past season and want to learn more backcountry
- want to give ice a try
- 27 and single
- driving doesn't bother me. I love road trips

I feel like either place would be a great spot and of course id make the most of it but id like to know what you think! Thanks!

Live in SLC and never been to RI. So I'll give you my biased opinion. I love SLC.

Here is why:
Minutes away from little (trad) and big (mix) cottonwood. I love getting out of work at 430 and running up to LCC.
30 min away from American fork canyon and rock canyon for sport. Don't forget maple that hr away.
If you climb ice you can climb year around in maple LCC and of course Provo cyn
Great climbing gyms if you are into that sorta thing.
Skiing and snowboarding all over the place. Take your pick.
Some awesome alpine routes particularly on the Pfeifferhorn or superior.
3+ hrs from Tetons, Zion, Moab and city of rock
Have you ever tried a desert tower? Canyonerring?
Indian creek??
Annual trips to red rocks and Ouray are a must. Only 6 hrs away.
Black hills, Yosemite are 10 hrs away all doable for extended trips
Great climbing community lots of people to meet
Great mtn trails again all over. Couple parks too in eagle mtn, alpine, and park city
I like the people out here and the culture. Also the women are beautiful. Great outdoor community.
Fun events like outdoor show, sundance film, the new wall with pool don't know what's it's called.
Bd head quarts are here petzl up north somewhere I hear.
Real football and jazz add some fun.
Just do it. You won't regret it. Wasatch is a beautiful place. Grew up in Orange County near beach will never leave SLC for the beach again.

What kind of question is that? Salt Lake City.

Not trying to be rude, but I think that any fifth grader with a map could tell you that SLC is the right answer.

I don't want to be rude, but you must be joking. RI is the obvious choice.

SLC. There is no room for debate on this issue.

SLC has legit mountains, canyons and rivers within 30 minutes. The high Uintas are only 1.5 hours away, and in 3-6 hours, you have plenty of desert rock.

Normally we in SLC would open our arms and embrace you but I am having second thoughts about your ability to make a good decision and thus may ruin my climbing experience if I am in close proximity to you. Let's just say I'd rather visit you in Rhode Island when I happen that way.

I'd hold out for a job in Kansas, Nebraska or since you like skiing, central Florida.

The climbing in Northern RI is world class

Thanks for the feedback! As much information that's out there it's nice to hear first hand experience/opinions.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
