I will be in Estes Park between 7/27 and 8/2 but would like to climb and descend Longs NF on either the 31st or 1st. Two guys I climb with locally are unable to fly out to Colorado with me from NC. I've been climbing for over 30 years and done Mt. Shuksan-Fisher Chimneys, Mt. Stuart West Ridge, Mt. Whitney, Liberty Bell, and hundreds of rock climbs in California, North Carolina, Georgia, etc. Never having climbed Longs, I hesitate to solo the NF, despite it being only a 5.4, given weather and snow variables. I've read that plenty of people climb the NF at this time, but I don't want to assume people would let me join their route if I just appear with no notice. Thanks.
I will be driving solo the same week to RMNP. I was just planning to boulder as I dont have anyone there to climb with, but I have a rack, etc. if you wanted to hook up to do some climbing. Unfortunately, i would probably would just be a drag on Longs as I havent done much multipitch (our climbs in AR are short)or alpine climbing.
