Cory Hall was a good man, and as solid as climbers come. For those of you who didn't know him, it is a shame you won't ever get the chance to. For those of you who did, you know what we all have lost.

Cory was young, strong, and bold as all hell. In 2013 alone, he summited Cerro Torre and other patagonian peaks; established a new route in Northern India's Ladakh for which he and his partner were nominated for a Piolet d'Or; soloed (I believe onsight, and I know about 95% free) an enchainment of 4 distinct routes and summits in the Bugaboos in a day that had only been done once previously - and then by Peter Croft; and soloed (again, almost all onsight and free) roughly 12,000 feet of 5th class rock (most harder than 5.8) in a day in Red Rock, NV. His talents, and boldness were impressive. Cory was completely qualified to be a fully-fledged sponsored climber. The fact that he wasn't is a testament to his humility, and the purity of his love for the sport. He simply didn't want anything to get in the way of climbing.

I knew Cory well, and I can say unabashedly that he was one of the most impressive climbers I knew. I remember thinking that he was living the life I would live if I could justify that sort of risk assessment. I hope for Cory it paid off, and I'd like to think it did. 25 is too young, too young by far - but maybe Cory found something in 25 years that few of us ever will. Only Cory knows.

If you have photos, memories, or thoughts about Cory, please share them here. Rest in peace, Cory Hall. You will be missed.

Cory Hall Climbing at Hatun Machay Peru.

I only got to know Cory for a short period of time, but he was the kind of guy who really made an impression! We first met in Ecuador, then Huarez Peru again. It was strange that our paths had crossed several times in one trip, but every time they did it was a pleasure. I enjoyed the stories he told about all the cool stuff he had seen and done. Ive met a bunch of climbers in my life, but he was definitely the most memorable! I won’t forget when he was telling us about climbing la Esfine. He said they had gone off route when climbing, and he had 50 foot run outs on some of the pitches. It sure scared the shit out of me! But he just said “na… you guys will do good”. This pictures is from the last day we climbed together. Really bummed we weren’t able to tie back up and hit the rock some more. You will be missed man, but I’m glad you loved the life you lived.
RIP Cory Hall

It's hard when someone so young passes.

I offer condolences to you Chris and all who knew your friend.

sounds like Cory packed a lifetime of climbing into a very few short years.

RIP
