I am looking for a gear sling if anyone has one. I do not care about the condition as long as it can still hold gear. I will pay shipping, please message me.

I've got some Sportiva TC pros that I'm looking to get rid of. Size 42.5. Well used. Resoled last year and the sole is in good shape. The laces are a bit shredded down by the toes but usable. One of the lace holes is torn but in general the shoes are completely usable. they don't stink too bad.

PM me here if interested. I only ask you cover shipping, which should be a medium flat rate box.

Mike

Edit: Shoes spoken for

Hey, if anyone has ANY spare trad gear that has a few years left, i'm really trying to get into trad. Found a "mentor" and everything, but I'm a really broke student who is kinda struggling to make ends meet right now. I'll pay shipping via paypal! Looking for carabiners, slings, pro, anything you're willing to give.

PM me :)

@ Caeden,
I believe the spirit of this thread is for giving more than asking.
What do you have to offer?

Chad Volk wrote:FREE back issues of Climbing and Rock and Ice. Lots of issues from approximately 2004-2012 of both. Come pick them up in Longmont or I can meet you in Boulder.
Hey Chad, Thanks a ton for the back issues. Very smooth deal. May Karma give you what you deserve.

Three kinds of posters to this thread: those who offer, those who take up those offers, and those who ask for something that no one has offered.

That third kind... Cringe each time I read one. That's not what this thread is about, is it?

No!!! This is a POST FREE GEAR forum not post pity story for free gear forum. If you have gear and no need for it, post it and if someone can use it they will call dibs or PM. Don't beg for gear!!

Yeah I agree. When I first signed up on MP and saw this thread, I misunderstood and misused it by asking for free/super cheap gear (I was legitimately pretty desperate, but it was still a bad idea). Since then, I have read through posts from the beginning and noticed that people doing what I did were changing the spirit of the thread. It should be one where people who want to unload excess or donate will post, then others who legitimately need it can send a PM to the poster. I regret soliciting free gear because now I have a better understanding of what this thread was intended for. Don't abuse it; rather, appreciate the incredible dynamic that is quite unique to the climbing community.

But in your defense, nobody is just going to post saying they have a cargo box up for grabs. A little more forgivable than what the other guys are referring to.

Lets not forget craigslist if your needing things like cars, lock boxes, pets, and used ropes. I've called folks on begging before and only got an ear full. Howzit that you do it and folks like you?

Sheeoot. One of my favorite begger stories cam from Brittney.
She had her car broken into and all her gear was stolen. She was living a nomadic life in that car, and now she was not able to climb. She specifically asked for old used gear like harnes's, ropes, belay devices. The following was my reply: I've decided to tone it down a little. She said she thought my reply was funny and it lightened her spirits. She has since removed her origional post.

"1st.. We all agree that a gear thief is the lowest form of human life.
2nd.. So sorry for your loss.
3rd.. Have you tried renters insurance/home owners insurance, even your auto coverage might help.
4th.. Get a job. Wash dishes, sell your blood at the plasma center, and even work at a day care. Money works great when trying to get more gear.
5th.. Look around at the base of Big Walls. I've found and dropped enough gear for two racks.
6th.. Ever consider prostitution? Sure STD's are a bummer, but imagine how fast your gear stash will grow. You'll have forgotten about the cigarette burns, when your forearms are burning with the pump. Yea, bite mark scars are a drag, but scarification is growing in popularity among the younger crowd... (Edited) I know prostitution is inherently dangerous and any person is personally responsible for learning the proper techniques and good judgment. We strongly recommend that every climber-prostitute seek instruction by a qualified professional. You are responsible for knowing and respecting your capabilities and limitations. Always know the maintenance and use history of your equipment give away gear over the internet to prevent future use. The use of secondhand equipment is a strong possibility. Failure to follow these warnings can result in severe injury or death.
7th.. I've got some old biners and a few nuts I'll mail you. Pm sent"

The response was typical of what you'd hear from people who thought I was sincere.

Here's the deal I have 2 pairs of Smith Touchstone frames that I have broken the lens in. Smith will sell you a new pair for 1/2 price if you send in the broken one.
Their customer service rep suggested I give them to someone hence the reason for the post.

I don't need them to get new glasses.

Pick up in SLC is obviously best.
